5 Clean Skincare Products to Try Now

In recent years we've seen a large shift from mainstream skincare to brands that use clean ingredients—and there's a reason for it. Many traditional products that you're familiar with contain toxins, parabens, and other harmful ingredients. Whether you know it or not, these ingredients could be doing more harm than good to your skin.

I've been making a conscious effort to ditch products containing harmful ingredients and find clean, nourishing products that actually benefit my skin. The following products are products I use daily, and that work for my specific skin type (normal, minor milia, occasional dark circles).

Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream

This little magic tube is a game-changer. I recently decided to add retinol to my skincare routine to target milia and signs of aging. Retinol intimidated me, so I did my fair share of research to find the perfect product for beginners.

It contains one-percent retinol, a triple peptide blend, and vitamin F to restore firmness, resilience, and clarity of the skin. It's a mild blend, which makes it perfect for those who haven't used a retinol cream before. I started off by using it twice a week, but now I use it every other night. It's important to keep in mind that your skin might experience dryness or redness while first using retinol—but it eventually goes away. The results are definitely worth it!

*Free of essential oils, silicones, fragrances, drying alcohols, chemical sunscreens, dyes, parabens, phthalates, SLS, and more.

Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum

This serum came with my retinol cream and I've been using it ever since. I apply the serum with the retinol at night to combat dry skin. The product is light and mixes well with other skincare products. I typically only use this at night, so I can't speak on what it's like to apply it during the day. My skin is always nice and hydrated the morning after using, and I love it for that!

*Free of essential oils, silicones, fragrances, drying alcohols, chemical sunscreens, dyes, parabens, phthalates, SLS, and more.

First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser

When it comes to facial cleansers, I rotate between First Aid Beauty and Summer Fridays. Since I'm already talking about the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, I decided to highlight this cleanser. I love this cleanser because it's fragrance-free, gentle, and doesn't dry or tighten my face. It's perfect for any skin type, especially if you have sensitive skin. Delicate, simple, and a must-have if you prefer a gentle formula!

*Gluten-free, nut-free, oil-free, soy-free, vegan, nano-free, and formulated without alcohol, artificial colorants, artificial fragrance, lanolin, mineral oil, parabens, petrolatum, phthalates, propylene glycol, sulfates, and more.

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

In all honesty, I bought this mask because I saw it on Instagram. We love a good trendy product, right? I heard such good things about it but I worried it wasn't going to live up to the hype. Oh boy was I wrong!

The Jet Lag Mask is a thick, hydrating face mask intended for dryness, dullness, or uneven texture. I like to put this on every night after my retinol or serum and rinse it off in the morning. You can also put the product on for 10 minutes, and rinse the excess off with a warm cloth. I've noticed a huge difference in the texture and look of my skin—I don't know how I ever went without this product.

*Non-comedogenic, no phthalates, surfactants, petrolatums, BHT, BHA, or silicones.

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

I hate to admit it, but up until recently, I didn't see the importance of wearing sunscreen daily. I loved having a natural glow, and I knew if I did get a sunburn it would be minor. But ladies, the effects of prolonged sun exposure isn’t worth it! Wearing sunscreen isn't up for debate. Wear it all day, every day. You’ll thank yourself later in life!

I love Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen because it's weightless and scentless. It feels like a makeup primer and has a non-greasy finish—I forget I’m even wearing it. You don't have to worry about the white finish that other sunscreens have because it's a clear gel. It’s a great product and definitely makes wearing sunscreen less of a hassle.

*Vegan, cruelty-free, reef-safe, gluten-free, and formulated without sulfates (SLS and SLES), parabens, phthalates, and more.
