Apartment Refresh: West Elm Picks

West Elm Wine Glass

To be honest, I'm picky and indecisive when it comes to apartment decor. I don't know enough about styling a space to confidently choose pieces that create a cohesive look. I'd rather have an empty apartment and take time to think about what I want than fill it with things that don't fit. When Jon and I found ourselves with a little extra time, we decided to sit down and make a list of what we didn't have and what we needed to update.

For beginners, we had nothing to dress up our bathroom except for a bath mat and shower curtain. I needed some sort of organization, so we decided on a simple, modern accessory set. Our building didn't update the bathroom counters and tiles when they renovated, so it has an earthy, hotel-like feel. Fancy, huh? Neutrals are the only colors that do the bathroom any good, which is why we stuck with the white. We updated the bath mat while we were at it, and our bathroom has a whole new feel!

Bar and wine essentials are a must in our apartment. We're not huge drinkers, but we treat ourselves to a bottle of wine or a couple of cocktails most weekends. The wine glasses we've been using are from TJ Maxx and look like your typical wine glass. There wasn't anything wrong with them, but we obviously needed pretty glasses. We also ordered a decanter for Jon's whiskey to place next to the wine rack we purchased from Crate and Barrel (you can see our Crate and Barrel picks here).

We live in a small studio, so we have to get strategic with our storage. Somehow we ended up with so many blankets—so many that the ones that couldn't fit in the closet were just folded and left on the couches. The woven basket was perfect for storing the extras while adding a chic touch to our living area. It's handcrafted, so it took longer to arrive but we're happy we purchased it.
